2nd model Allin conversion of U.S. percussion musket to .50-70 caliber center fire with Springfield lock plate dated 1864 and Eagle proof with 1866 on breech block. The rifle remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing Arsenal bright on barrel and mounts with just some minor staining and beginning light erosion. The lock plate and hammer show 80% to 90% original case hardening with just slight fading. The breech block shows nearly all of its quenched blue finish as does the rear sight. The stocks show storage scratches, dings, mars but are in at least very good plus condition with a couple of small losses along the ramrod channel. A sharp cartouche shows on left side of stock and there is a light impression of .50-70 written between the lock plate screws and the wood. The markings are sharp and the action crisp. The bore is excellent and the correct cleaning rod is included. There are a few scratches on the top of the comb in the stock. An 8+ on a 1 to 10 scale. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
