CDV of Charles A. Hurlbutt of the 2nd New York Heavy Artillery, Company E. Inscribed in ink to reverse, “Charles A. Hurlbutt / 1st Sergt Co E. / 2d N.Y.A.” Hurlbutt mustered into service on 2 October 1861 and mustered out in December of 1864. During his service he was captured, held POW and finally paroled. The 2nd New York saw action at North Ana, Cold Harbor, Totopotomoy, the Crater, Deep Bottom, Boydton Plank, Ream's Station, Appomattox and others. Image measures 2.5'' x 4''.
