Offered is their recruitment banner, 69½"x28½", natural cotton with black painted lettering. In full, “<i>2d New-Jersey Cavalry. / Government, State & City Bounties / To Nine Months Volunteers Who Are Married, / $818. / to Nine Months Volunteers Who Are Not Married, / $674 To $746. / To Volunteers Who Have Not Been In Service, / $518.</i>” Occasional light dampstains; irregularly cut bottom edge; o/w in excellent condition. Attractive. Attached to Stoneman’s Cavalry Division before moving to KY with Waring’s Cavalry brigade, the 2nd NJ Cavalry later fought in operations against Forest in western TN and KY; with Sturgis Expedition at Ripley, Bolivar, Brice’s Cross Roads; also at Port Gibson; Smith’s Expedition to Oxford, MS, Tallahatchie River, Hernando, Yazoo City, Egypt Station; participated in Grierson’s Raid to destroy Mobile, and other operations. The unit was mustered out at Vicksburg in Nov 1865.</span></p>
