ROBOT JOX (1989) - Achilles (Gary Graham) and Athena's (Anne-Marie Johnson) Screen-Matched Hero Mechanical Robot Puppet - Achilles (Gary Graham) and Athena's (Anne-Marie Johnson) screen-matched hero mechanical robot puppet from Stuart Gordon's Robot Jox. This puppet screen-matches to close-up shots from the climactic battle scene in which market robot jox Achilles and Athena fought against Alexander (Paul Koslo) of the Confederation.

The film's colossal mechs, designed by conceptual designers Ron Cobb and Steve Burg in coordination with Gordon, were brought to life through a combination of stop-motion animation used for the wider shots and rod-and-cable puppets used for close-up shots of the robots in action. This hero robot is of the latter type.

This puppet is constructed from resin-coated fiberglass with a metal armature interior and mechanical metal cables for operating the puppet extending out its back. It is painted red and white as the robot appeared later in the film, rather than its more fully red appearance in early scenes.

Following production, this puppet underwent sympathetic restoration to secure various loose components and remount its legs. Nonetheless, the lot exhibits some missing detail pieces and no replica components have been added. Its vibrant paintwork is all original to the production. Dimensions: 30" x 18" x 51" (76.25 cm x 45.75 cm x 129.5 cm)

Contains electronic and mechanical components; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.

Estimate: $10,000 - 20,000
