<B>27-Piece Silver, Bronze California Missions Medal Group. </B></I> This lot consists of 27 medallions. The first, struck in silver and engraved by Paul Vince, depicts <B>William Shakespeare,</B></I> issued to commemorate the 400th anniversary of his birth. The next four pieces are <B>bronze medallions, two each from the Biblical Jewish tribes Judah and Dan. </B></I>The final medallions are in two sets and were issued to commemorate the <B>California missions. </B></I>There were 21 missions, but this lot has 11 different from that 21. We do not know if the set was ever completed, and this might be all that were struck. The sets are numbered 1453 and 1454.
