25c Third Issue Fessenden Experimental Gem New. This major rarity from the Hoffman Collection is one of only a handful of Fessenden Experimentals known to exist. Its origin is almost certainly from the right end of the block of six sold be Sotheby's on November 5, 1985. That block was resold by us as Lot 1094 of Milt Friedberg's collection in January of 1997. When we sold it, it was a block of four, the two right-hand notes having been severed and sold separately, each to a different collector. This note has the broad right selvage and the breadth of left margin that almost certainly identifies it as one of the two members missing from the original block of six. There is a small corner fold far out in the one-inch-plus wide selvage, but the note itself is a deeply embossed, perfect Gem. An important opportunity for the Fractional specialist. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
