OUTLAND (1981) - Marshal William T. O'Niel's (Sean Connery) SFX Shotgun Rig - Marshal William T. O'Niel's (Sean Connery) SFX shotgun rig from the production of Peter Hyams' Outland. O'Niel and his fellow marshals wielded their shotguns throughout the film as they investigated a series of deaths in a mining colony on one of Jupiter's moons.

This rig was constructed for SFX inserts in which O'Niel shot the weapon, such as his fight with Mark Sheppard's (Peter Boyle) assassins. It features a cast of a Browning 2000 shotgun painted black and brown to resemble steel and wood, engraved with the Browning logo along the side, and inset with wiring inset through the bottom of the textured barrel. The wiring, which is tapped into a large pack, connects through the butt to a Fairbanks-Morse ZV4BT engine concealed inside a slatted wooden compartment hand-marked "25,000 Volts!" The effects box is designed to take gas into the shotgun and produce a sparking effect, simulating a flame-burst gunshot when the trigger is compressed.

Due to the age of the wiring, the engine's current functionality remains untested. The shotgun exhibits a loose nail in its barrel's metal paneling, as well as scratching and paint flaking near the muzzle and butt. This lot should be handled with caution.
