NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3, A: DREAM WARRIORS (1987) - Freddy Krueger's (Robert Englund) Distressed Sweater - Freddy Krueger's (Robert Englund) distressed sweater from Chuck Russell's A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Krueger's signature sweater became increasingly distressed as he terrorized the teens of Westin Hills Psychiatric Hospital throughout the film.

First appearing in Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street, Freddy's striped sweater has become a symbol of children's worst nightmares across the franchise. Dream Warriors was nominated in three categories at the 1988 Saturn Awards for its particularly nightmarish dream sequences, as well as upgraded special effects from the previous two installments.

This red and green striped knit acrylic sweater was the first place prize won by Nathalie Mineault in a Fangoria magazine contest asking readers to submit their "worst Freddy nightmare in 50 words or less." It has been with Mineault since the contest. Also included is a promotional New Line Cinema photo autographed by Robert Englund in red ink along with a personal inscription; a Fangoria-branded envelope with two letters pertaining to the prizes of the contest; and two magazines: Fangoria #64 (June 1987) featuring the announcement of the contest and Fangoria #69 (December 1987) featuring the winning nightmares.

Production intentionally distressed this sweater to appear bloodied, grimy, and well-worn with tears on the sleeves and stains on the front. This lot exhibits faded ink on the photograph, stiffness and fragility of the knit, and frayed fibers.

Additional Provenance: Letter of Authenticity from Mineault.

Estimate: $20,000 - 40,000
