These coins are struck in manganese brass clad copper, with each coin weighing approximately 8.1 grams. The roll remains unopened in its original paper wrap, marked with denomination and issuer information. The obverse features a forward-facing bust of Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. The design includes the President's name and term of office inscribed around the top rim. The reverse of each coin depicts the Statue of Liberty holding a torch in her raised right hand and a tablet in her left. The denomination $1 is shown to the left of the statue. Encircling the edge is the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The engraver's initials are inscribed on the book held by the statue. The coins were minted at the Philadelphia Mint, indicated by the "P" mintmark on the edge. These $1 coins are part of the United States Mint's Presidential $1 Coin Program, honoring former U.S. Presidents with a unique design for each. The roll is a standard red-and-white bank-style crimped paper and has been opened or searched. The visible end coins are identifiable as Ulysses S. Grant issues, consistent with the printed labeling on the wrapper. Coin diameter: 26.5mm. Coin roll: 2"L x 1"W.
