22nd SC Infantry ALS
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Civil War letter by Confederate soldier William Martin of the 22nd South Carolina Infantry. The two page letter dated 11 January 1863 was written at a camp near Kingston and the cover bears the regimental ID. It reads in part, I was in the battle all day and bombs and the grapeshot and the bullets fell around me as thick as rain ever did the 14th December The letter is folded into thirds and has foxing, light toning and chipping at the perimeter. Vero has tape repair to horizontal foldline and vertical foldlines contains tears. Overall good condition.
