W.G. Ward wood patent model for later Ward Burton carbine “Aug 31 1869” with tag attached. Measures 11 ¾” from tip to end. Wood bolt operates metal trigger, plate and ejector. The ward Burton carbine was a trials gun highly favored by General Phillip Sheridan who owned one but the Springfield trapdoor beat out this integral thread advanced bolt action design due to politics.
