Japanese Arisaka Type 44 2nd series bolt action Cavalry carbine with folding spike bayonet, 6.5 x 50 caliber, Serial #1142. The carbine is in fine overall condition, manufactured by the Nagoya Arsenal. Thecarbine retains a significant amount of original military finish with handling and storage marks consistent with service use. The front sight is a protected blade with a military ladder style rear sight and themagazine follower shows bright blue finish. The markings are crisp with numerous proofs and acceptance marks and a sharp Mum on the front ring. There are bright straw colors on the bolt release, trigger and magazinerelease. All matching visible serial numbers including a matching bolt. The smooth stock is very good with dents and mars consistent with service use. The butt stock has a unique trap door for a cleaning rod that isoperated from the right side of the butt stock. The slings swivels and hook at the bayonet are intact. An honest 9.5 on a scale of 1-10. Est.: $600-$1,200. (C+R/PPT).
