The pistol shows light refinishing to the metaland wood with a significant amount of smoky blue finish drifting to grey patina with toning case hardening on the frame. The smooth Walnut grips and fore end show light refinishing and are in very good condition. The Model 1891 was manufactured from 1892-1898 using left over overruns of the U.S. Army Model 1871. The barrel address reads, “REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y.”. Additionally, the left side of the casehardened frame is marked, “REMINGTON’S ILION N.Y. U.S.A. / PAT. MAY 3d NOV. 15TH 1864 APRIL 17TH, 1866”. The base of the grip shows an old catalog number, “22” as the pistol was formerly in the noted Gene Herrick collection.
