A Scarce Starr D.A. Model 1858 36 Caliber Navy Model Revolver Serial Number 2512. According to Flayderman “The Navy model is the most difficult Starr revolver to acquire”. With only 3000 manufactured and2250 purchased by the U.S. government for Civil War service the Starr Navy is a rare Civil War revolver. Flayderman also notes “Starrs are seldom found with inspector stampings. Serial 2512 is a full dimensionrevolver with excellent markings and stained but smooth metal and no real pitting. The nipples are fine and screws mostly good with one marred. Bore is good. Action is stiff but functions. Original walnut grips are goodwith marks and large initials “A.L.” carved on right side. A far better than average example of this important Civil War revolver. Estimate: 1500-2500
