1860 Staff and Field Officers late production sword and scabbard with a rare etched scabbard. The sword is 36" in overall length by J.M. Litchfield & Co., San Francisco, California, circa 1876-1906. The brightblade shows no sharpening with sharp etching featuring patriotic U.S. mottos. The gold tone hand guard has an American eagle and Union shield with a wire wrapped ray skin grip in very good condition. The originalbullion sword knot is retained and is in good condition as well. The etched nickel plated scabbard is in very good condition with gold tone hangers. A great Spanish-American War era sword with a rare etched scabbard. Est.: $300-$600.
