Sharps Model 1874 single shot rifle, .45 2 7/8 caliber, Serial #158792. The rifle weighs 16 pounds with a 30” octagon barrel, 1 ¼” across the muzzle with a German silver blade front and ladder style rear sights.The barrel has gone to an even brown patina with crisp barrels markings and light surface erosion. The receiver is silver, toned case hardening showing muted colors on the breech block assembly and in protected areas, withdouble set triggers. The smooth wood stock has period repairs at the wrist with a special order brass crescent butt plate. The action is crisp and the bore is bright with light to moderate pitting near the breech.The gun has a good look and a serial number that places it in a range that went West in search of buffalo.
