1833 Ames artillery sword with scabbard and buff leather hanger with buckle. The blade is dated 1833 with eagle and Ames Mfg. marks. The hilt is marked S. Huse-Newburyport, who cast the earliest hilts for Ames. Alsomarked “DT” in script letter cartouche. The overall condition is excellent with minimal handling and slight natural age. A 9.9 on a scale of 1-10 and the only reason I do not give it a 10, is because some people areunreasonable (NUTS). Simply hard to believe an antique made in 1833 could be any better condition, more complete or as rare a variation. Est.: $2,500-$5,000.
