Excellent 19th Century Japanese Wakizashi (Medium size sword) finely carved in relief with Japanese Mons or crests of chrysanthemums. Measures 24” overall with a 13 ¾” steel blade showing no temper line orlamination as these were made for court purposes and usually owned by diplomats, merchants, or wealthy non-combatants whose practical use would be Hari-Kari or ceremony. The ivory shows patina and aging but remains in near fine condition with just minor losses and normal aging. Pre-1985” and isdated 7/30/2009 and numbered 434 with a retail replacement value of $19,000. Est.: $2000-$4000
