John Campbell signed Scottish Flintlock pistol with rams horn shaped butt and silver inlaid stock. Fancy pierced back, hammer and belt hook. Two silver ovals for owner’s crest or initials rubbed out as it was illegal for Scott’s to retain arms after Colodan unless specifically allowed by British rulers. Measures 11” overall with a 7” barrel showing octagon to round back to octagon fancy barrel. The pick is oddly made with no ballat the end and a square shaft. Usually the pick would have a silver ball to match the trigger and may have been purposely made this way for another purpose as it shows proper age. All correct flintlock era parts andworks well. The condition is good with some minor pitting, erosion and natural aging. The rammer is fancy turned and may be the original. A very desirable maker and we would date this pistol 1720s to 1750.
