Early and Important breech loading and “self-priming flintlock rifle by H. Barne London” circa 1638-1661 from the William “Keith” Neal collection tag #G562 still attached. The gun swings to the side andexposes the breech and a removable pre-loading metal cartridge inserted and the frizzen primes the pan from internal magazine. The gun shows early engraving on the lock and retains its original hammer, frizzen and small parts. The metal surfaces show light to moderate scattered pitting. The fore end shows well done restoration. Scattered light to moderate pitting with deeper pitting on the barrel. The butt stockIs good. Ringed muzzle and about .60 caliber rifled bore. Measures 43” overall with a nearly 28” barrel. It would be difficult to find an earlier English breech loading rifle as this is the earliest we have viewed in 52years. A museum quality rarity. (Antique) Est.: $5,000-$10,000
