High art and elaborate Spanish miquelet percussion musket signed in gold “Malaga Ano de 1827” on the barrel and lock. The gun is chiseled unto the barrel with serpents, birds and scrolls extended to the joint between octagon to round barrel (About 16” from tang to joint). The hammer is chiseled and gold band to match the breech which shows numerous maker’s hallmarks and Spanish markings. The Escutcheons, ferrels and swivels and finely engraved silver. The trigger guard is chiseled in a bird motif with wing spread and gold damascened back ground to match the barrel which is also blue. The stock is elaborately raised carved in several panels of hunting scenes, scrolls and wrist shows Knights Helm facing left with initials “V M U” intertwined. The side plate is decorated en suite with scrolls damascened back ground and “NILL 1827” in central panel. Measures 49” overall with 34” barrel of approximately .75 caliber smoothbore or 10 GA. The condition is fine overall with most of its original blue and stock also shows almost no use or aging. An original style ramrod also included which is possibly the original. The action works well and arm is generally excellent overall. A very ornate arm probably made for royalty or person of wealth and prominence in the colonial era before the collapse of the empire.
