Lancaster style flintlock “Kentucky” style rifle with thick butt circa late 18th to early 19th century. Engraved “Daisy” patch box with “Bethlehem” type silver star inlay in the check piece and small oval plaque atthe wrist. Measures 1 1/8” wide across the butt top. Pierced brass side plate secured by 2 screws and double set triggers. Incised carving around the rear Ferrell and silver escutcheons around the rear most barrel key.The incised carving at the rear follows the ramrod to the end cap. 46” medium to heavy octagon barrel of approximately .50-52 caliber rifled bore. The rear and front sights are contemporary to use handmadereplacements for more accurate shooting. The lock is marked “Wm. Maslin Warranted” and the rifle is an older reconversion. The stock has been cleaned with very minor restoration but shows good fiddleback grain and stillfairly sharp. The metal is good with some pitting at the breech area from firing a great deal.
