U.S. Model 1841 “Mississippi” rifle by Eli Whitney dated 1850 on the lock and “1853” on the tang. “U.S.” and “V.P.” marked with “J.H.” inspector’s initials on the breech with cast steel on the left side. .58 caliber rifled bore with all other features as standard on this issue. Very good plus condition with most of the tobacco brown still showing on the barrel with some rust and erosion that may clean off well. The lock shows strong traces of original case colors going to patina. Two cartouches in the stock one not legible and the other “W.A.T.”. The stock is also very good plus with ding, mars, small losses and minor imperfections.Correct style ramrod. The action is crisp and the arms is a strong 8 on a 1-10 scale.
