American stocked flintlock fusil with lock signed “Bingham” in script and British proofed barrel. Measures 53” overall with a 37” barrel of approximately .69-.70 caliber smoothbore. British military style brassmounts similar to brown bess with lazy “S” side plate of Revolutionary War era about 1780s. The stocking is typically American with raised floral carving around the tang and molding around the lock and side plate.The wood is naturally striped walnut. The stock has had the entire fore end expertly repaired along with other small repairs that are well done. There are some small losses and the competent restorer left the back endof the stock as he found it (Thank You!) The barrel and lock show a dark almost black patina with all original flintlock parts and action works. Sling swivels retained. Has not been cleaned in 30 plus years and freshrust.
