Brass barreled flintlock blunderbuss marked “Ketland & Co” on the lock with “V” and “P” proof on the barrel. Measures 27 ½” overall with a 12” flared brass barrel that measures over 1” to the inside wall across the center. Early style nailed on sheet brass butt plate and simple para-military style overall. Lazy “S” style brass 2 screw side plate circa approximately 1780. Possibly merchant marine or ships used. Good patina on the barrel andoriginal parts on the lock. Work well. Small losses at the edges of the lock in the stock and at the muzzle with cracks, mars, and dings. A sliver of wood about ¼”- ½” is missing and broke away from the left top side of fore end extending 4”. A good blunderbuss that could have seen use in the naval wars during the time of Admiral Nelson. (Antique) Est.: $1750-$3500
