Flintlock “Kentucky” style gun signed in script “J. Gumpf” (Probably John Gumpf Lancaster, PA circa 1825), and also marked “Drepert” on the lock. The side plate is engraved in fancy script letters “U R No 5”and a small museum type copper disk #75 affixed to the left rear of the butt. False striped wood stock and simple and plain patch box. Measures 57” overall with a 42” barrel of approximately .50-.52 caliber smoothboreof medium weight. The condition is very good plus overall retaining most of its original varnish on the stock with minimal imperfections and slight aging. The metal is also very good with brown patina and someminor pitting and erosion from firing. Original flintlock parts and lock works well. Very possibly a gun made for Indian trade.
