Pair of cased French Flintlock Pistols signed “B. Desponds A Margles” on the locks and in gold maker’s cartouche on the barrels. The pistols are 13 ½” overall with 7 ½” barrels of .50 caliber smoothbore. Blue steel mountswith silver butt caps. The barrels show the majority of their striped tobacco brown finish with strong case hardening showing on both locks. The majority of the original blue on the mounts also. The stocks show crispcheckering and light refreshing by a professional gunsmith. Brass tipped correct style rods included. The actions work well with all original flintlock parts. The case has been relined long ago probably in Europeas correctly accomplished. Mold, horn flask, combo mallet powder measure, screwdriver and two rods included. The interior is green velveteen and very good plus with minor wear and aging. The exterior of case shows repairand refinishing probably at time of relining and also professionally accomplished.
