Pair of Cased Belt Size Pistols by “E & W Bond” converted from flintlock to percussion. Measures 11 ½” overall with 6” octagon barrels of .62-.64 caliber smoothbore. In their original period casing with large and ornate trade label in the lid which underscores maker to the Royal Board of Ordnance and the east India Company also repeated in signature on the barrels. The pair remain in very good plus to near fine condition showing 50%+ original brown and case hardening with striping mostly visible on the barrels. The wood is also very good with well-defined checkering and some normal marks and scratches. Traces of blue on guards. The case contains mold, flask, rod and both original compartment covers. The case shows an old alteration to accommodate a larger spout on the flask’s charger. The label is only slightly oil stained and quite a “Billboard” of advertising. Oak exterior shows inlaid plaque inscribed “John Webb Esq.” in period script. The exterior of the case is good and would have been very good except large silver of wood missing at right lower corner approximately 3 ¼” by a ¼. (Antique) Est.: $2000-$4000
