Pair of Cased Double Barrel Flintlock Pistols signed “Twigg & Bass” on the barrels and locks. The pair are contained within their original to the period partition style case with John Brown agent’s trade label in the lid. John Brown was located on “The Strand” London’s most prestigious shipping area and he advertises firearms bought, sold and exchanged on the most reasonable terms. Also shot, flints, etc. The pair are in original very good uncleaned and as found condition with considerable finish remaining on the barrels, dark patina on locks and just starting minor erosion and surface pitting. The stocks are almost fine with crisp and sharp checkering. The trigger guards show 50%+ original blue. The swans neck style hammers are the originals as are all the lock parts. Measures 15” overall with 9 ¼” barrels of .56 caliber smoothbore. Both original rods with tips intact are retained. The case is deep and lined in green felt or baise showing some tatters, wear at contact points and minor fraying with period patching to a couple of corners. Correct size mold, flask, horn priming flask, oil bottle, and rod missing tip included. The exterior is good to very good with some warping to the top of the edge. Brass carry ring and hook type brass latches. Cased sets of double English pistols by major makers are scarce to rare. (Antique) Est.: $6,000-$12,000
