Early French Flintlock Holster Pistol by Monlongue Royal Gun Maker to Louie IV showing his signature at edge of the lock and Paris. Monlongue was a Hugonaught who immigrated to London in 1684 becoming a maker to KingWilliam III. This pistol shows fine quality and exceptional and refined form. Measures 20 ½” overall with a 14” barrel of approximately .52 caliber smoothbore. Excellent early pierced side plate withfigures of swordsman, man with mallet and mythical beasts. Lightly engraved mounts in 17th century patterns. The breach area shows 50%-70% good overlay in scroll motifs also portrait of maiden on tang. All originalflintlock [arts and very good condition with light cleaning but not “Rubbed Out” with good edges and proper surfaces to metal. Correct style ramrod. Burled wood stocks also very good.
