Impressive Flintlock Blunderbuss of “Dag” size with 2 stage flared and ringed muzzle. No makers name or marks but Eric Vaule noted expert thought it to be Portuguese due to ring in hammer and similarities to Englisharms but yet Southern European in many traits. The belt hook, ramrod pipes and butt plate are silver. The butt plate is pierced and shows 3 fancy initials possibly “C.A.C.”. The silver plaque at the wrist is engraved“V.J. 7.” The barrel shows some light foliate engraving. Measures 17 1/8” overall with a 7” barrel that measures 1” across the inside walls. Uncleaned and as found with some wood loss around the top edge of the right foreend. Horn tipped ramrod. A very rare and small blunderbuss (Possibly Grenade launcher for fireballs) that is unique in style and rare to find any silver mounted blunderbuss. Not even Mel Flannigan, the premiercollector, had one like this! (Antique) Est.: $2500-$5000
