U.S. Model 1850 Officer’s sword by Ames with period inscription and near fine “Frosty” etched blade showing most of its original polish. The throat of the scabbard is period inscribed in script “E.B. Mahler, III Lt Comp H, 5 Reg N.Y.S.M.” The mounts show most of their original gold gilt with some erosion on the drag. The sharkskin grip is very good with tight wire wrap. The scabbard is good to very good with minor flaking and aging butsound. Should be furthered researched. Est.: $1500-$3000
