Pre-Civil War U.S. Issue Naval Officer’s Sword with blade dated “1852” and “P” along with “RBH” inspections. Measures 33” overall with a 27 ½” blade showing “U.S.N.” in guard and sharkskin wrapped with wire grip. Partial scabbard is missing its drag and damaged at the tip. The condition is fair to good overall with some rust and erosion on the blade and just traces of etching from being cleared. The grip shows small losses. Theknotted rope hanger and throat show a dent or two but generally good. The scabbard is fair to good with normal aging and cracking except from 4” to 5” that have been damaged. Very scarce.
