Rare 1858 (Pre-1860 acceptance model date) Cavalry sword by Ames “U.S.” marked with “J.T.” inspection and “1858” date on the left, “Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee, Mass” on the right with good clear stamping. Hilt numbered “37”. The condition is good to very good overall with grip showing tight wrap and good leather. Minor split and aging. Scabbard shows some pitting and dark patina. The blade is lightly stained with minor erosion andslight pitting. In 52 years of selling arms we have seen only 3 dated 1858s! Est.: $500-$1000

Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
