Unusual flintlock pistol signed in cypher with double set triggers and steel mounts. Measures 20 ¼” overall with a 12 ¼” barrel of approximately .62 caliber smoothbore. The lock is marked “I.L.G.Z.Y.V.B.” at the center and “H.H.K.” at the rear. The breech is marked “I.L.G.Z.Y.V.E.” in block letters hand engraved. Early serpentine side plate with long straps and elongated rear escutcheon. It is my opinion that this pistol and its mate(See Lot #370 this auction) were made in the 17th century and restocked approximately 100 years later during use. The stock is a light colored maple or fruitwood and is raised carved with minor cracks and refinishing.Original flintlock parts with minor cleaning but very good metal. The action functions and triggers work and set. We are selling each pistol as a separate lot and no buyer’s option. (Antique) Est.: $1250-$2500
