Saw handle Percussion English made dueling pistol inscribed on the lock plate “Van Wart & Son & Co” A known American importer from Birmingham, England. Measures 13 ½” overall with a 9” heavy octagon barrel ofapproximately .50-.52 caliber smoothbore showing single set trigger with German silver mounts and half stocked. Shows old repair to the wrist using German silver and screws. There is some light to moderate pitting onthe barrel and the metal is fair to good overall. The stock shows some wear and the aforementioned repair but otherwise good. The lock needs minor adjustment or repair as not quite holding when cocked and trigger notsetting. #956 on collection tag on the guard. The type dueler used pre-Civil War in the south and possibly pressed into service during the Civil War when handguns were scarce in “Dixie”. (Antique) Est.: $800-$1600
