Miquelet Fowler with maker’s mark at the center of the lock. Brass mounts, finely fluted barrel and delicately engraved on the neck of the hammer and beneath the pin. The maker’s cartouche shows a crown over “AIQ MAIT” (The letters are very small and hard to decipher. The barrel measures 62” overall with a nearly 42” barrel of about 20GA or .60 caliber smoothbore. Shows burled wood stock and 18th century styling with long point onthe butt plate extending almost the entire length of comb. Fancy engraved brass side plate, engraved and pierced rear band, and fancy pierced plaque in top of the wrist showing crest of two egret type birds facingopposite. The metal surfaces are sharp and crisp showing original bright. The stock was broken at the wrist and restored and butt plate shows a break. The breech is stamped of the left side with small cartouche of maker“Brat”. Most likely Italian about 1760s. (Antique) Est.: $750-$1500
