Colt SAA Artillery revolver, .45 Colt caliber, Serial #17436. The pistol is in very good overall condition with a 5 ½” barrel with the correct one-line barrel address. The barrel and cylinder show traces of toning blue finish, primarily in the protected areas. The frame and hammer show old, smoky case hardening with a visible, “U.S.” stamp near the patent dates on the left side. The cylinder is numbered 0793 and shows an Ainsworth inspection mark. The underside of the revolver bears three different serial numbers; 17436 on the frame, which is in the 7th Cavalry range, 3595 on the trigger guard, which is in the 4thCavalry range and 9828 on the back strap, which is in the 8th Cavalry range. The smooth wood grips are in very good condition with the faint outline of a cartouche evident on the left panel. The action is crisp andin time. A most acceptable U.S. Artillery model with numbers that correspond to several historically significant regiments. Est.: $3,500-$7,000. (Antique).
