These 21 postcards belong to the Hellman / Heller family and were sent from the Hellman / Erman Pine Lodge. They are all addressed to Master Edward Hellman Heller, mostly when he was in Europe. Several have rare views of Pine Lodge. In 1897, San Francisco businessman Isaias Hellman began buying property at Sugar Pine Point and by 1913 had acquired nearly 2000 acres. His grand but informal summer home, called Pine Lodge, was completed in 1903 and was considered to be one of the finest in the high Sierra. Pine Lodge today is a museum run by the California State Parks Department. The lot includes two rare views of Pine Lodge shortly after it was built. There is also Tahoe Tavern, Mt. Tallac, Cave Rock, Rubicon Point, Fallen Leaf, Emerald Bay, Echo Lake, Tahoe City, etc. Almost all are black and white. Several photographs. Almost all have notes. They were written by Mrs. Isaias Hellman. She talks about the doings at the Lake and mentions here husband. And to make this even better - there are eleven TRUCKEE & LAKE TAHOE RPO's`.

Hellman: Isaias Hellman arrived in Los Angeles in 1859. He became the town's first informal banker and started the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Los Angeles, which became Los Angeles' first successful bank., a major investor in trolley lines and is credited by some sources as the founder the the University of Southern California (USC). Heller: His daughter, Clara, married Emanuel Siegfried Heller. Heller Ehrman had its beginning in 1890 when Emanuel S. Heller opened his law practice at 124 Sansome Street, Room 30, in San Francisco, California.
