Up for auction is this modern 20th Century Native American dance wand or stick. This dance wand is made from a wooden stick having a curve at the top and carved to a point. The stick is wrapped with two solid pieces of rawhide, separated in the middle with a band of beadwork. The bead work is shows two bands of Pony Trader/ Powder Blue beads separated by a band of Chalk White beads. At each end of the bead work is tied two black feathers. At the bottom of the dance wand is a multiple rawhide strand drop decorated with wooden beads and feathers. At the top of the wand, just under the exposed, curved portion of the stick, is a ball of beige fur. Attached to the upper end of the dance wand is a 9" in diameter rawhide wrapped loop with a cross of tubed elk ivory in the center and three "jingle bells" at three ends of the cross. In the center of the cross, attached to an elk ivory rosette, are thin strands of horse hair. Inside one quarter of the circle, is attached a dream catcher, in an adjacent quarter of the cricle is attached a small stuffed rawhide pouch with fringe. The dance wand measures 31" in overall length, excluding the drop.
