Featured in this lot is this Southern Plains beaded and quilled knife sheaths with knives circa 20th century. There are two knives in their sheaths in this collection. The first shows a smaller stature but is expertly decorated with precise quillwork that are dyed with natural ochre pigment and colored yellow, brown, orange, and red with a soft Indian tanned hide sheath with a fringe. The knife with a sharp single sided dagger with a half tang and mounted on an antler tine. The second shows nice beadwork with trade seed beads that include colors of sky blue, medium red, pumpkin orange, black and chalk white and shows a geometric pattern to the face of the beadwork with brass aglets hanging from larger red white heart beads. The knife in this sheath is modern with a full tang and a wooden handle with the brand ground off. Provenance: From the Bruce Miller Collection. The condition of this pair of Southern Plains knife sheath and knives shows some damage to the quillwork on the smaller one. The measurements of these knives in sheath is 11 1/4" x 2 3/4" and 13" (with fringe) x 1 7/8".
