This is a nice, mid-to-late 20th century gunstock club from the Plains with a painted and tacked finish. The club shows a classic gun stock pattern carved from solid heavy dense wood with a metal spontoon shaped blade that is secured with poured lead. The blade is from sheet steel with a notch cut. The club shows bands and circles of brass covered metal tacking with red painted circles and bands as well. The gripping area is wrapped in rawhide with a dark coloring and adorned with Indian hide fringes and Indian hide fringes with red stroud clothe wrapped Turkey feathers. There are also two brass trade beads and an old Venetian trade bead. The club also shows two wraps of parfleche at teh top area. Displays nice. Measures overall excluding the fringes and feathers 30-inches long by 10.5-inches wide, the blade protrudes 4 5/8-inches and is 2 3/8-inches at its widest; the feathers hang an additional 13-inches. TURKEY FEATHERS.
