Imperial German naval sword pattern 1876 Saber, est. 1890’s. Full Damascus pipe-back 5/8” W blade with brace and Carl Eickhorn double sitting squirrel maker’s mark. Gilt bronze basket hilt with full lion head setwith red and green stone eyes, and short mane. Remainder of grip flap is scrolled leaf and acorn motif with grip tabs. 11-Rib ivory [?] grip with twisted wire wrapping. Ferrule band with leaf design. Roundedrectangle style bow with stylized vine and leaf design. Folding guard with angled crowned anchor and surrounding vine leaf design. Folding languet has leaf design and hole for locking scabbard. Stitched leatherscabbard has three brass mounts. Brass fittings have two quadruple horizontal lines at suspension ring bands, and contain engraved typical sweeping curved scrollwork with decorated ring holders. Est.: $300-$600
