Special Order Winchester Model 1894 Takedown lever action rifle, .30 WCF caliber, Serial #51770. The rifle is in fine overall condition with a 26” ½ octagon to round extra light barrel with a ½ magazine and takedown frame. The barrel and magazine retain approximately 80%-85% of the blue finish with a ramped blade front sight and the rear sight removed with the dove tail left open. The receiver shows significant flaking blue finish with scratches and high point edge wear. A period receiver sight has been added. The hammer and lever show nice color case hardening. The smooth wood stock is in very good condition with fine figure in the fore end. The butt stock ends with a checkered steel shotgun butt. The bore is bright, the action is crisp and the markings are sharp. A Winchester factory letter accompanies the rifle confirming all features. The letter indicates the rifle was manufactured on November 17, 1898, received in the warehouse on December 22, 1898 and shipped on December 23, 1898, Order number 17831. No doubt a Christmas present for some lucky cowboy. Est.: $1,000-$2,000. (Antique).
