The American Silver Eagle features Lady Liberty draped in the U.S. flag, walking toward the rising sun while carrying laurel and oak branches on the obverse. The reverse, designed by John Mercanti, displays a heraldic eagle with a shield, holding an olive branch and arrows, with thirteen stars positioned above. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, and 1 OZ FINE SILVER. The coin contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and was struck by the United States Mint.
