The reverse depicts a bold image of a mature bald eagle named Challenger before an American flag, with the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, CHALLENGER, and HALF DOLLAR. Designed and engraved by U.S. Mint sculptors and engravers, the coin celebrates the enduring symbol of freedom and strength.
