<B>2008 Erik Christensen Winter Classic Game Worn Jersey.</B></I> On the first day of 2008 hockey history was made when the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh met for a clash at Orchard Park, New York's Ralph Wilson Stadium for the first regular-season outdoor professional ice hockey game to be played in the United States. The participating teams played on a temporary rink built on the stadium's football field, drawing an NHL-record 71,217 attendance. Penguins and Sabres players all wore vintage uniforms, with the currently offered powder blue gamer representing the first time Pittsburgh has been outfitted in that hue since 1973. The 1-1 game was played for the most part in falling snow and culminated in a Penguins shootout win. Prodigious stickhandler Christensen was the first Pittsburgh shooter, but his miss mattered little when his team emerged on top 2-1.
