$200 Liberty Loan Bond Receipt RIssued by the A.S.
$200 Liberty Loan Bond Receipt
Issued by the A.S. Abell Company to Samuel Robert Senhart of 2131 Hollins Street, this receipt for a $200 payment to secure the delivery of a 3 1/2% Liberty Loan Bond to be dated June 15, 1917. The receipt itself is dated June 13 and provides that the document is "not negotiable but must be returned to the A.S. Abell Company on June 15th 1917 when the Liberty Loan Bonds will be ready for delivery." There is no indication of the document being cancelled, giving rise to the question of whether Mr. Senhart actually ever took delivery of the bond he had purchased and paid for. Very Fine, with a margin split and gap at top left and some light staining on the back. The document is printed in orange and black with crossed United States flags at right and left. With the growing popularity of the collecting of Liberty Loan bonds themselves, this intriguing association item will likely spark considerable bidding interest. Lot:15543
