$20.00 Gold 1891 NGC MS60. Well struck and displaying semi-reflective fields on either side. Though the surfaces exhibit their share of bag abrasions, the dispersal pattern and positioning of any marks remains remarkably well balanced for a survivor at the MS60 grade level. Consequently, this extremely rare coin retains visual appeal that is entirely satisfactory. Moreover, the paltry number of survivors forces buyers to be more understanding of the limits in which the known population of this issue falls. To date, there have been a total of only 10 grading events at or above the MS60 level at both PCGS and NGC combined. Only 3 of those are above MS61 (an NGC MS62 and a single PCGS MS63 and PCGS MS64). Of the incredibly low 1390 piece business strike mintage, it is believed that no more than 100 survivors in all grades are still extant. Furthermore, Breen wrongly believed that "possibly 12 business strikes survive", and though much too conservative, it is a tribute to the great rarity of the coin offered herein. Est. $70,000
