2 William Jennings Bryan 16 to 1 Silver Studs Pair of Unusual William Jennings Bryan 16 to 1 Silv
Pair of Unusual William Jennings Bryan "16 to 1 Silver" Studs. The primary issue of the 1896 election was silver. Bryan's campaign called for the unlimited coinage of silver at a gold to silver ratio of 16 to 1. He felt that flooding the market with "free" silver would help the working man pay his bills but the Republicans convinced the majority that he was too radical and Bryan lost the election to McKinley. This pair of 7/8" celluloid studs both picture Bryan over a patriotic eagle design with "16 1" above and "silver" below. Fine condition.
